1917 Gibson H-2 Mandola

1917 Gibson H-2 Mandola

Gibson mandolas are rare enough. Gibson mandolas of this high a grade, model H-2, which is the equivalent of their matching A-4 mandolin of the day, are even rarer. Gibson H-2 mandolas in this clean, original condition, and now exactly 100 years old, just can’t find ‘em, at least not in the last few decades that I’ve been looking, except for this one, which was here fifteen years ago and now is back, exactly the same as it was when last it left here. No cracks, no seam separations (!), no repairs ever needed or needlessly done, just about perfect. And it still has all of its original components: tuners, tailpiece with script “The Gibson” logo cover, adjustable ebony bridge, and even its original pickguard, so often lost or damaged. The frets have almost no wear, the action is perfect, and the tone is…..hugely clear, and spectacular, and LOUD. Even has its original Gibson plush-lined hardshell case, in equally fine condition. If you’ve been wanting a truly great Gibson mandola look no further; you’re home. $3795 w/ohsc
