1950s Martin 2-15 Mandolin

1950s Martin 2-15 Mandolin

A gorgeous, bargain, Martin carved-top-and-back mandolin from 1950 needing a little TLC. Fabulously flamed-maple neck, solid carved flamed maple back and maple sides with solid carved spruce top, this was near the top of Martin’s mandolin line in the 1950s. We got it from the family of its original owner, who had had in storage for many years. There has been some water damage causing a bit of separation at the back-to-sides joint down at the tail block and a tiny parting of the back seam in the same area. Otherwise, in remarkably fine condition; the neck is straight, the frets are original and unworn, the finish overall is beautiful with the shaded top, a hand-done Martin specialty, having literally no playing wear. The genuine ivory nut, Waverly tuning machines, and ebony bridge are all original as is the pickguard. The hard shell case is original too, showing a little separation in the same place. Have this beautiful, earlier Martin mandolin taken care of by your favorite repair person, or make it your own personal project if you’re so inclined. A tremendous bargain at only $395
