2017 Danny Brown Jumbo

2017 Danny Brown Jumbo

Once again, from master luthier Danny Brown, he who has run Martin’s Custom shop for many, many years, made in his own personal workshop as one of the very few (maybe only?) of the six hundred Martin employees who makes complete guitars on his own, for the public, outside of Martin. This is an absolutely brilliant instrument, possibly the finest we’ve seen from Danny, and we do not say that lightly. A full 16-3/4” across the body and with a slightly shallower depth than most other jumbos, which makes it much more comfortable to play, and combined with its gorgeous yet understated bird’s-eye maple back and sides, gives it a brilliant, crisp, clear tone. For days. The nut width is an extremely comfy 1-11/16”, which combined with its 25.4” scale length, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, light-gauge strings, and amazingly low, fast, action, makes this guitar an absolute dream come true for a light-touch player; it just jumps when you stroke it. And the color! I’m a firm believer in brown guitars sounding brown and red guitars sounding red; the tones and shadings on this one are absolutely luscious. As crowning touches, the smaller pink abalone block fingerboard inlays, six-in-line gold-plated genuine German Schaller tuning machines, and abalone DJB logo on the peghead are the absolute cappers; Paul Bigsby, move over. I am IN LOVE with this guitar. $5995 w/hsc
