1974 Martin D-18
A brilliant Martin D-18 from one of the most solid periods of building in Martin's history, the early-1970s. Perfect action for flatpicking and fingerpicking both, huge clear tone for miles and miles, a really nice, wonderfully playable and thoroughly enjoyable D-18 from over forty years ago. Real nice tight Martin overall with no cracks, no repairs; original American-made Grover Rotomatic tuners, strap button added at heel for your convenience. Superb Martin tone throughout the entire range and all of that fabulous Martin D-18 volume and strength that can be found nowhere else. The pickguards on so many Martins of the period shrank, as did this one, which has been neatly replaced; few would ever notice. The inner Sherlock in me finds one coat of overspray from the Martin factory a very long time ago. In those days, when a guitar was sent back to them for anything at all they would recommend "polishing it", which in their book meant adding a bit of lacquer. I will guarantee though that 99 out of 100 would be hard put to find it. Bottom line is that this is an extremely nice older Martin D-18 with a huge clear tone and fabulous playability, just set up right here in our own shop. A most delightful 40-plus-year-old Martin in every way. Comes with its original hard shell case of course. $3295 w/ohsc.
