1969  Martin D-28

Wonderful sounding D-28. w/ohsc

I haven't seen an Indian rosewood 1969 Martin D-28 since probably 1969. Very few were made, as Martin changed over from Brazilian to Indian towards the end of that year and believe it or not, I actually remember getting our first one in here as new and being shocked. Bottom line though is that this is a true 1960s Martin D-28, without the Brazilian price tag. It's so solid, has the feel and heft of all those great Martins from years before. Shows some scrapes and scratches, some finish wear on the neck and signs of having been well played overall, but never abused and not a crack anywhere, not even the typical Martin "pickguard crack", though the guard itself has been replaced, understandably, and so beautifully done that you'd hardly notice it. Frets in great shape, BIG strong D-28 tone, original ivory nut and saddle and American-made Grover Rotomatic tuners, fabulous playability courtesy of our own Tom Crandall in repairs. Strap button in heelcap, leave it alone. A very tough one to match in a top now 41-year-old Martin D-28.
