1921 Martin Style B Mandolin

1921 Martin Style B Mandolin

This is a very rare Martin mandolin and a beautiful one too. 99% of all Martin mandolins of this general kind have mahogany backs and sides; this one has gorgeous, unusually straight-grained Brazilian rosewood from the 1920s, a time period when Martin had access to the very best. It has the appointments of a 21-grade Martin guitar of the day with herringbone soundhole rosette and matching herringbone back inlay. The body bindings are also Brazilian rosewood. Original inset tortoise pickguard, original tuning machines with Ivoroid buttons and hand-engraved backplates, and the original hand-engraved tailpiece cover complete the picture. Its original genuine ivory nut, ebony bridge and fingerboard with mother-of-pearl and abalone inlays and original bar-type frets have all been set up here in our own workshop for a lovely action. The overall condition is wonderful too, not a crack or an issue to be found anywhere, and the tone is just beautiful, warm and clear, and the boldest to be found on any Martin mandolin of its type. Comes with its original hard shell case of course. $1395 w/ohsc
