1968 Martin 0-18

1968 Martin 0-18

The Martin 0-18 is the secret weapon in the pantheon of “smaller” steel-string guitars. Not all that many were made in comparison to the larger 00 and 000 models, misguided thinking in the minds of many buyers that “bigger must be better”; certainly not so in this case. It’s one of the sweetest, strongest-sounding, comfy-size Martins I’ve ever played. In wonderful condition, with the only non-original aspect I could find being one light extra coat of lacquer on the top and really hard to detect, even for me. Looks just beautiful, all around.  The tones on this one are just about perfect in every way; round, and clear, and BIG. Beats me where it’s all coming from but it is most definitely there, the minute you play the first chord on it. Action lovely light, plays like a champ, with a really nice handful of a neck, not one of those skimpy little things so common to 1960s Martins. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge of course; original genuine ivory nut and saddle, original Grover Slimline tuners, all nice and tight. A perfect package. Recent chipboard case. $2995 w/ssc
