2017 Gibson J-45 Vintage

2017 Gibson J-45 Vintage

The folks out at Gibson Montana, who have been doing it for a long time now and whom I know personally, are doing a great job and this guitar proves it. Built to the original spec of the J-45 as Gibson made them in the mid-1940s, they got every little detail right. The body shape, the bracing, the frets, the tuners, the script logo and “Only A Gibson Is Good Enough” banner on the peghead and, most importantly, the sound. Big and clear, the kind of tone that a Gibson and only a Gibson has or can have. One of the things they’ve done on this particular model is to use “torrefied” spruce for the top, which has been slowly and gently heat treated to give it some of the timbre that is found only in guitars that have been played on for years and years and years. The example of J-45 Vintage that I have here originally had Gibson MAP pricing of $3995, is clean as a whistle, barely ever played or even touched, and is in near-perfect condition. No idea why but I’ll take it, and you can too for only $2195 w/ohsc
